Even with the number of upscale movie theaters in the South Bay increasing, Pruneyard Cinemas in Campbell is finding ways to set itself apart from the pack. It’s launching a new monthly series next week that should appeal to both foodies and film lovers.Culinary Cinema pairs a three-course meal with a food-focused movie, all served inside the dine-in theaters. Director Jon Favreau’s delicious food-truck comedy “Chef,” accompanied by a dinner that showcases a Mojo Marinated Pork Roast, starts things off Jan. 23.Guests can start their evening in the Cedar Room, which is offering three craft cocktails inspired by the film as well as the Cinema Highball, a combination of popcorn-infused Flor de Cana Silver Rum and Mexican Coca-Cola. Dinner and the movie start at 7 p.m.Jack NyBlom, a partner in Pruneyard Cinemas, says the series is an idea that he and his partners had been trying to launch for years at Camera Cinemas but couldn’t quite make work. But the kitchen and cocktail capabilities of the Cedar Room, combined with the auditoriums’ dine-in experience, everything came together. The topic, naturally, will be “California’s HIstoric El Camino Real Bells.”. Kolstad’s own history with the iconic roadside bells goes back decades to when he first saw one as an 8-year-old living in Whittier. He’ll talk about the history of the bells, how they’re made and how he wound up owning California Bell Co., the 112-year-old firm that produces the bells the state buys for the markers. The lecture at the Saratoga Foothill Club begins at 7:30 p.m.
